Quackers Win the Series, but Heat Win Division

Game 1:

On Sunday July 6, the Oatka Quackers were able to knock off the undefeated Hamilton Heat in game one of the three game series.  The #2 nationally ranked Heat suffered their first loss as Regis Pollard and the Oatka Quackers won 16-0 in four innings.  Pollard proved his dominance as he struck out 11 and only allowed one hit.  Jordan Shelton went 4-5 with 8 RBIs, as Joe Cappotelli had the only hit for the Heat.

The Quackers and Heat held game two and three of the series Wednesday night in a doubleheader in which both teams came out with a win.  With the series split the Hamilton Heat clinched the East Ave. Division title.

Game 2: 

In the first game, Regis Pollard had a solid performance on the mound striking out 14.  Matt Condame went 4-6 at the plate for the Quackers, who won 9-1.  For the Heat, Jon Cappotelli went 3-5 with a triple and Joe Cappotelli struck out six on the mound in the losing effort.

Game 3:

The second game was more of a pitcher’s duel.  Steve Gaffney struck out ten for the Heat as they went on to win 4-2.  At the plate, Jon Cappotelli went 2-6 with 2 RBIs and a double.  Matt Donegan also added a triple to pace the Heat.  Cody Hammond had a strong performance for the Quackers striking out 14 in the loss.  The Heat not only clinched the division with this win, but also earned a first round bye for the playoffs.
