— News has broke late tonight that the Oatka Quackers are looking into Kevin Keenan to fill up the third roster spot. Keenan currently attending college was a standout baseball player for the Caledonia-Mumford Red Raiders. Pollard did not confirm or deny having contacted Keenan about the move stating, “It would be unfair to Kevin to release any information, but obviously he would be a target for us.”

At Caledonia, Keenan earned numerous honors including Birdseye Player of the Week as well as All-Star honors his senior year. He was also a part of the parade of Red Raiders who went to the Senior Game in 2010. Keenan has been known to connect with the long ball and had 3 career HR’s to match his 3 years played on Varsity. Keenan has stayed active in the off-season, working on his long distance running as well as swimming.

And did we mention a Section V Title? That seems to be a theme with the Quackers, and not too bad of one. All of the Quackers have had experience winning it all, and Kevin would be another addition to that category. His speed would be a good compliment to Pollard’s, and not so much Shelton’s. His legs remind many of a gazelle, so Keenan has the potential to leg out a few extra base hits. He would provide a good power punch to the Quackers line up if Oatka could land the deal. The move is no surprise to some, seeing as Pollard and Keenan have been long time friends. If Pollard could convince his best friend into joining his squad, Oatka will certainly be in good shape for 2011.
