— Just like that Peterson landed his first big name, in that of Eli Beard. Within hours or reporting that Peterson was interested in starting a team, we got the news that he had already landed an agreement.

Beard, a former Red Raider, has been a dominant pitching force around the area. For three years straight, Beard put up mind-boggling numbers for the Raiders. In his junior year, Eli posted a 2.40 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings. His senior year, he got even better posting a 2.53 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings. Along with his dominance in pitching, he also swung the bat well too. He hit .338 with 2 HRs, 6 Doubles, and 32 RBI’s in his senior year alone.

Beard will be the power hitter Peterson was looking for in his line-up. Also it is a no brainer that Eli will see some time pitching. Who wouldn’t start a guy who shut down almost every team he faced? With a Section V Title, and the MVP of the game, Beard is one of the best the WWL has to offer. Although he has been highly recruited among college coaches, it looks like for at least this spring, the WWL will get the privilege to see his talents.
