Beard, a pitcher by nature, is a huge pickup for the Workhorses. Manager Mike Anderson pulled the right strings to land this huge deal. The Workhorses now have only one roster to fill, but have had quite the off-season.

October 6, 2011 — Late tonight news broke that Matthew Hayes would be joining the Donia Dozers (previously known as the Wiffle Wonders). It was reported Hayes talked to Jon Cappotelli, manager of the Dozers, and was able to agree to terms for the 2012 season. An avid golfer, Hayes will have to make the switch to swinging the yellow stick this summer. Although this is the first player to officially commit to Cappotelli's squad, we should start to see some more players follow suit soon.

Kevin Keenan (Quackers) has managed to get himself onto the national wiffleball calendar for 2012. The NWLA just came out with the calendar and Keenan can be found cranking a pitch in perfect form for the month of October. We caught up with Regis Pollard, Commissioner of the WWL, to talk about this accomplishment. "It is nice to see Kevin is finally being acknowledged for his good looks."

So watch out Reggie Jackson, there is a new 'Mr. October' in the sports world. To view the calendar Click here

Chris Voos Tops the List of FA Signings

posted Jan 28, 2012, 1:33 PM by Washburn Wiffle   [ updated Jan 28, 2012, 1:33 PM ]

August 29, 2011 — Chris Voos was just one of a few Free Agents who were claimed within the past week. It was reported that Mike Anderson of the Workhorses first contacted Voos, and was quickly able to convince him to join the Workhorses' squad. Voos a previous 3-sport athlete, has experience playing wiffleball for the 2005 18-hour marathon team. The Workhorses (.200 Win. %) were in deseperate need of a quality player and Voos should help fill that void.

Other Free Agents who committed this week were Danny Whiteside and Alex Coleman. Both players will be a part of the newly named franchise started by JT Williams; the Mumford Suns. Whiteside was a subsitute for the Wonders in 2011 while Coleman will be a new face for the WWL.

Both the Suns and Workhorses have 2 roster spots to fill, so we can expect a few more signings in the weeks to come.

JT On the Move in 2012

posted Jan 28, 2012, 1:33 PM by Washburn Wiffle   [ updated Jan 28, 2012, 1:33 PM ]

August 18, 2011 — For most of the 2011 Season it was clear JT Williams was not happy being a member of the Washburn Workhorses. The team started off poorly under manager Mike Anderson, who was rarely able to make games. Then JT stepped up as manager and immediately signed Glove Glover Jake MacWililiams. Even with this great addition the Workhorses finished dead last in the league, then went on to get embarrassed by the Quackers 28-3 in the playoffs. Williams finished the season as an All-Star batting .538 with 7 HR and 39 RBI.

With a new season ahead JT Williams has decided not to re-sign with the Workhorses. He is currently in the process of forming a new team with the hope of a fresh new start to his wiffleball career. It has been reported Williams has talked to a number of different Free Agents and is in the process of creating a new team name and logo.

As for the Workhorses it seems Mike Anderson will be ready and committed in 2012. He has already confirmed that he will be managing and that teammate Sean Ancker will be returning as well. Anderson is searching in the market for players to fill his final roster spots, but the Workhorses will surely miss Williams in 2012.
